Across the river, the Äußere Neustadt is the city's alternative and nightlife district; while perfectly safe to explore, standard urban precautions apply late at night regarding pickpockets or alcohol-fueled rowdiness. The city occasionally hosts political rallies, particularly on Monday evenings in the city center, organized by right-wing groups. While violence is rare, these demonstrations are heavily policed and tourists are advised to avoid the immediate area to prevent any inconvenience.
