Tourists should exercise increased caution at night in areas like Görlitzer Park, Kottbusser Tor, and parts of Neukölln, which are known for open drug dealing and occasional nightlife-related altercations. Berlin also has a strong culture of frequent political protests; while usually peaceful and heavily policed, it is best to avoid the immediate vicinity of large demonstrations to prevent getting caught in any unrest.
